Garage Door Quote Builder

Build visual garage door quotes from size, manufacturer, color, style, and insulation. Price is calculated from your catalog, not typed as generic estimate lines.
This tool is garage door industry only. It is separate from the Estimate Builder and from HVAC Comfort Proposals. You can convert a finished quote into an estimate, invoice, or job.

Overview

Garage Door Quotes (/garage-door-quotes) is a four-step configurator with a live Door Preview and pricing breakdown. Super Admins maintain motors, colors, styles, catalog feeds, and service zones under Settings → Garage Door Admin. Customers open a public link to pick Good / Better / Best, e-sign, and download a PDF.

Requires industryType garage door. Quote CRUD uses garage-door-quotes:view / create / update / delete. Admin catalog and feeds require Super Admin as well as garage door industry.

What you can do today

  • Search and filter quotes by status: Draft, Sent, Viewed, Accepted, Declined, Expired, Converted.
  • Four-step builder: Specifications → Options → Customer → Review.
  • Specs: length (1–50 ft), height (1–20 ft), manufacturer, color, style, insulation. Door Preview and pricing update live.
  • Options: windows, motor, one-piece conversion, dump fee, framing required.
  • AI door assistant — describe the door in plain language (for example “16x7 white raised panel with windows”) to fill specs. Photo-to-spec is available on the API.
  • Good / Better / Best package cards from the pricing engine; packages save on the quote.
  • Assign a customer and notes; share by copy link, email, or SMS.
  • Download PDF; customer can download the public PDF.
  • Public page: pick a package, e-sign (mouse or touch), Accept or Decline.
  • Convert to estimate, invoice, or job.
  • Admin: motors, manufacturers, colors, styles, insulation, pricing, catalog feeds (run, approve/reject, CSV import), service zones (zip prefixes with surcharge / markup delta), and Seed default catalog.

Prerequisites

  • Business industry set to garage door.
  • Catalog seeded or maintained under Garage Door Admin (Super Admin).
  • Email/SMS configured if you share by those channels.
  • Optional: 3D Visualizer garage-door mode on your website; quotes can import from a visualizer submission.

Step-by-step

Seed or maintain the catalog (Super Admin)

  1. Go to Settings → Garage Door Admin.
  2. Click Seed default catalog if tables are empty.
  3. Use the tabs to add motors, manufacturers, colors, styles, insulation, and pricing rules.
  4. Catalog feeds — run a vendor feed, review pending rows, approve or reject, or import CSV (category,code,name,hexCode,price).
  5. Service zones — zip prefixes with a surcharge and optional markup delta. Quotes in those zips pick up a zone surcharge.

Build a quote

  1. Go to Garage Door Quotes → New (/garage-door-quotes/new).
  2. Specifications — enter size and pick manufacturer, color, style, insulation. Confirm Door Preview and the pricing breakdown.
  3. Optionally use AI door assistant to fill the spec from a sentence.
  4. Options — windows, motor, one-piece, dump fee, framing. Pricing recalculates.
  5. Customer — search and attach a customer; add notes.
  6. Review — confirm Good / Better / Best packages and totals, then save.

Share, sign, and convert

  1. Open /garage-door-quotes/:id.
  2. Share — copy link, email, or SMS (a share token is created first). Status moves toward Sent.
  3. Download PDF for the staff copy.
  4. The customer opens the public link, selects a package, signs, and Accepts or Declines.
  5. Use Convert to Estimate, Invoice, or Job when you are ready to bill or schedule.

Current limitations

  • Menu, Quick Links, and admin routes are hidden unless the business is garage door.
  • Catalog feeds and service zones are Super Admin only.
  • Pricing comes from the garage door engine and catalog, not from generic price book lines. Convert to a standard estimate when you need line-item AR.
  • HVAC businesses use HVAC Comfort Proposals instead.
