Bulk Price Book Updates

Overview

Bulk edit lets admins and authorized staff update many price book items at once—either by applying the same field values to a selection, or by editing rows inline on a dedicated Bulk Edit tab. Use it after cost changes, category reorganizations, or seasonal markup adjustments.

How to access

  1. Go to Price Book (/pricebook).
  2. Apply to selection — On the Price Book tab, check rows → Bulk edit (N).
  3. Inline grid — Open the Bulk Edit tab at the top of the Price Book page.
Requires price book update permission.

What you can do today

Bulk apply modal (selected items)

Apply the same values to all selected rows. Enable only the fields you want to change; disabled fields are left unchanged.

Bulk Edit tab (spreadsheet-style)

  • Filter by search, item type, category, and active status.
  • Edit multiple rows inline (up to 500 items per load).
  • Save only rows with changes; unsaved edits prompt before leaving the tab.

Prerequisites

  • pricebook:update (or equivalent) permission.
  • Know which fields you are changing—bulk apply does not auto-recalculate unit price from markup; values are written as entered.
  • For large catalog changes, consider exporting or noting current values before bulk SKU or category moves.

Step-by-step

Apply one change to many items (e.g. raise markup)

  1. Price Book → filter or search to the target set.
  2. Select checkboxes on the rows to update.
  3. Click Bulk edit (N).
  4. In the modal, check Markup % (or other fields), enter the new value.
  5. Click Apply. Review success/failure counts in the message.

Edit many items individually on the grid

  1. Price BookBulk Edit tab.
  2. Filter to the items you need (search, type, category, active).
  3. Edit cells in the grid for each row.
  4. Click Save changes (only dirty rows are sent).
  5. If you switch tabs with unsaved edits, confirm discard or save first.

Deactivate old SKUs in bulk

  1. Select obsolete rows on the Price Book tab or use the Bulk Edit tab.
  2. Enable Active → set to off (or set Active false in the grid).
  3. Apply/save.

Current limitations

  • Bulk apply and grid save set pricing fields directly—no automatic cost × markup recalculation in bulk flows.
  • Bulk Edit tab loads up to 500 items per query; very large catalogs need filters or multiple passes.
  • Inventory components and attributes are not editable in bulk—use per-item edit.
  • Quantity breaks and pricing schedule tabs are outside bulk edit.
  • Partial failures report counts but do not always roll back successful rows in a mixed batch.

Roadmap

  • Bulk recalculate unit price from cost + markup option.
  • Export/import CSV from the Bulk Edit grid.
  • Component and attribute columns in bulk views.
