Overview
Inventory tracks parts and materials your team stocks, reserves for jobs, and moves between locations (shop, warehouse, truck, etc.). Accurate inventory supports job costing, price book component roll-ups, and purchase ordering.
How to access
- Inventory list — Inventory (
/inventory) - Locations — Inventory → Locations tab (same page)
- Transfers — Inventory → Transfers tab
- Purchase orders — Inventory → Purchase Orders (
/inventory/purchase-orders)
What you can do today
- Create and edit inventory items (SKU, cost, supplier, category, attributes, images).
- Track on-hand quantity by location.
- Define locations (shop, warehouse, vehicle bins where configured).
- Transfer stock between locations.
- View stats and low-stock signals on the inventory dashboard.
- Link items to price book components and purchase orders.
- Use attributes and category defaults (see Using Attributes on Items).
- Manufacturing businesses see additional manufacturing-related inventory links (see Manufacturing Module).
Prerequisites
- Inventory view/create/update permissions.
- Locations set up before transfers or location-specific counts.
- Supplier and cost data for items you buy regularly.
Step-by-step
Add an inventory item
- Inventory → Add.
- Enter name, SKU, category, cost, supplier, and unit of measure.
- Add attributes if needed.
- Assign default or initial location quantities.
- Save.
Manage locations
- Inventory → Locations tab.
- Add or Edit a location (name, active flag, optional vehicle link).
- Save.
Transfer stock
- Inventory → Transfers tab.
- Choose from and to locations.
- Add lines and quantities.
- Submit the transfer.
Reserve or consume on jobs
Job line items and component usage follow your estimate/job workflow—confirm quantities on completed work so on-hand stays accurate. Use Count Sheets when physical counts disagree with the system.
Current limitations
- Serialized/lot tracking is limited compared to full WMS products.
- Automatic deduction from every job completion depends on how your team posts materials—some updates are manual.
- No built-in barcode scanner app in the main web UI (mobile field apps may differ).
- Multi-currency supplier catalogs are not supported.
Roadmap
- Stronger job-to-inventory auto-consumption from price book components.
- Barcode scan workflows on mobile.
- Reorder point alerts tied directly to PO drafts.
